  • 5 medium apples, sliced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 3/8 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp allspice
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 and 1/2 cups salted butter, melted
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups old-fashioned whole rolled oats
  • 1 and 1/2 cups light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 and 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tbsp salted butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup + 1 tbsp heavy cream
  • pinch of fine sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare a 9×13 pan with nonstick spray and parchment paper.
  2. Toss sliced apples with lemon juice, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, cloves, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Melt butter in a large bowl; mix in remaining crust ingredients until combined.
  4. Press about half into the prepared pan as the base and layer apple filling on top.
  5. Sprinkle reserved crust mixture over apples and bake for 38-45 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Prepare salted caramel sauce while baking; drizzle over cooled bars before serving.
